Fund for Active Citizenship fAKT is an indigenous civil society grantmaking foundation, and as such, the only one in Montenegro. Established in 2008, fAKT contributes to positive change in communities, by supporting civic engagement and enhancing local philanthropy. By 2020, fAKT has supported nearly 400 projects throughout the country, awarding almost 2 million euros.Balkan Green Ideas is an annual competition organized by fAKT on national level which aims to serve as an incubator for small – scale green economic development ideas in Montenegro, utilizing local resources and revitalizing traditions of production and community-based markets in an environmentally friendly way. The competition was launched in 2012 and through clear criteria and a transparent and fair competition process, it supports individuals, social enterprises, non-for-profit organizations and small business ventures to improve and contribute to better life in Montenegro. The shortlisted finalists present their proposal during one-day competition, before an Evaluation Panel consisting of experts in the field of environment, education, economy and finance. At the end of the competition, three winners are selected to compete at the Regional Competition, and receive coaching by fAKT. If none of the three competitors at the Regional Competition wins one of the awards, the one which is best ranked receives 4,000 EUR by fAKT, thanks to RBF support.
